The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it termed a "continuing Israeli aggression" on its territory, describing it as a "flagrant violation" of its sovereignty.

The condemnation follows Israeli air and ground strikes in the village of Koya, located in southern Syria's Daraa governorate, that resulted in the deaths of six individuals.

The Syrian government reported that the village was subjected to extensive artillery and aerial bombardment, targeting residential areas and agricultural lands.

An initial local report indicated a lower death toll of at least four people, which was later updated as further information emerged, coinciding with a wave of displacement among the local population.

Daraa governor Anwar Taha Al-Zoubi stated that local residents engaged with an Israeli military unit attempting to infiltrate the village.

Following the engagement, the Israeli military allegedly retaliated with artillery fire and strikes from unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they identified a group of militants firing at them in southern Syria and executed retaliatory airstrikes.

The IDF also acknowledged injuries from their response.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry characterized the escalation as part of a series of violations initiated by Israeli forces in the Quneitra and Daraa governorates, emphasizing that these actions constitute an ongoing aggression against Syrian territory, in blatant disregard for national sovereignty and international law.

This recent surge in hostilities occurred shortly after the IDF announced airstrikes targeting military installations in central Syria.
